Matterhorn mountain is often called the Jewel of Swiss Alps. One image that strikes everyone’s mind upon seeing Matterhorn mountain is the logo of Toblerone chocolates. It is widely believed that Theodor Tobler, the creator of Toblerone chocolate, got inspired by the mountain while deciding Toblerone logo. Even though the Tobler family has not accepted that it was true, the resemblance between the two is undeniable.

Swiss-Italy summit

Matterhorn mountain has the shape of a pyramid with its four faces facing towards fours directions - three of which is towards Switzerland and one towards Italy. Travellers have an easy time reaching the mountain summit if coming from Switzerland. Matterhorn mountain which stands over 14,500 feet above sea level is also one of the iconic locations in Switzerland.

Scaling the Matterhorn

Matterhorn mountain is a staple on any traveller who visits Switzerland. It is estimated that around 3000 climbers scale the mountain annually. Matterhorn has witnessed so many deaths of people who have attempted to conquer it without proper knowhow, but climbing the mountain nowadays is relatively risk-free.
